Cosmetic Procedures
At Johnson Dermatology, we offer a variety of procedures to enhance the natural beauty of the skin. As dermatologists, we are experts in treating the skin. The skin is our organ of specialty. We can determine the right products to use, treat any illness of the skin or enhance the natural beauty of the skin with cosmetic enhancements. We are aware that many people offer procedures aimed at the skin. You can be assured that we are highly trained to offer you the best possible care. We are not only trained in these procedures but also able to train others. Dr. Sandy Johnson was the director of the dermatology cosmetic training program at UAMS from 2000-2004. She continues to learn new skills, teach at national meetings and train other physicians in cosmetic Dermatologic procedures.

Neurotoxins
Botox® Cosmetic, Dysport and Xeomin
Dr. Sandy has been selected as a Brilliant Distinctions injector for Botox Cosmetic. Please go to BotoxCosmetic.com for more information and to sign up for their reward program.
Years of squinting and frowning can leave deep wrinkles. Dr. Johnson can quickly and safely inject BOTOX® Cosmetic during an office visit to diminish these wrinkles and lines that create an angry or sad look and detract from a pleasant facial appearance. Since there is no way to make the undesirable facial expression, the lines gradually smooth out from less use and new creases are prevented from forming. For optimal results BOTOX® Cosmetic therapy may be used in combination with other cosmetic skin procedures such as chemical peels, laser resurfacing, and dermal fillers. Combination therapy also can help prevent the formation of new lines and wrinkles. The improvement generally lasts about 3 to 4 months. With repeated treatments, atrophy (thinning) of the muscle may occur. This usually produces longer-lasting results. Therefore, BOTOX® Cosmetic is not just a treatment but a way to prevent further wrinkling. We are pleased to offer Dysport and Xeomin as alternatives to Botox Cosmetic injections. Dr. Sandy has been injecting Botox sine 1998 during her Dermatology training. She was asked by the makers of Botox to help teach other physicians how to inject Botox Cosmetic. In 2009, Dr. Sandy performed more than 500 Botox Cosmetic injections. The entire Cleveland Clinic reported fewer than 400 Botox Cosmetic visits for their entire Dermatologic team in their Outcomes 2009 report. Please see botoxcosmetic.com, merzaesthetics.com or dysportusa.com for more information.

Fillers
Fillers are used in our clinic to help restore the natural beautiful appearance of our face and hands. We offer a variety of filler choices to fit your needs. Most of the fillers we offer are mixed with lidocaine for a more comfortable treatment, give immediate results and last about a year. Our most commonly used fillers are Juvederm Ultra for improving the lips and Radiesse for facial and body restoration. Dr Sandy has been awarded the black level elite provider status for Radiesse. Sculptra aesthetic is often referred to as the liquid facelift because over a few treatment sessions, one builds natural looking collagen that lasts at least 2 years. Dr. Sandy is a gold level Sculptra injector. Please see www.juvederm.com, www.radiesse.com, or www.sculptraaesthetic.com for more information.

Lasers
Of all the various lasers available, we choose to offer Candela lasers. Dr. Sandy has worked with lasers since 1999. She has worked closely with many national laser experts and has taken and continues to take laser courses. She has served on the laser safety committee of the Arkansas State Medical Board. In the state of Arkansas, lasers are considered medical devices and must be under the direct supervision of a trained physician according to regulation number 22 Laser Surgery Guidelines. Laser treatments are performed by Dr. Sandy or by her personally trained and supervised laser technicians. The VBeam Perfecta offers the most advanced pulsed dye technology and may be utilized for true skin rejuvenation, redness, acne, pigmentation, brown spots, rosacea, veins, wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, psoriasis, hemangiomas, and other skin conditions. The GentleYAG complements our laser practice by treating purple spots, vessels, wrinkles, skin tightening, and the always bothersome excess hair. Please see www.candelalaser.com for more information.

Chemical Peels
Johnson Dermatology offers medical grade chemical peels to improve surface irregularities, texture changes, pigment changes, photodamage, scarring and other skin changes. Dr. Johnson prefers to perform a TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peel for most conditions and a salicylic acid peel when treating acne. Chemical peels provide a relatively inexpensive way to achieve desired improvement of superficial imperfections.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is a widely used nonsurgical procedure that eliminates spider and varicose veins. Using an ultrafine needle, we inject a sclerosing agent into the vein, which will cause them to dissolve and eventually disappear. Sclerotherapy can reduce or eliminate spider and varicose veins in 1-6 treatments, depending upon the extent of the problem and patient compliance following the procedure. You will need to wear heavy-duty support stockings and avoid sun exposure after treatment.
